It's true that we ladies are capable,
This fact is indeed inescapable.
Known for our ability,
Despite our fragility,
The effects of which can be debatable.
For example, while writing this rhyme,
I may also partake of some wine
While painting my toes
And admiring the snow,
Accomplishing naught in good time.
It's another limerick prompt from Mad Kane, this one on the subject of multi-tasking. I have always found it interesting that while we of the female gender are often lauded for our ability to multi-task, exercising this super-power generally hinders rather than helps. For example, we might try ironing and blogging at the same time, which would inevitably result in a melted keyboard. I, for one, cannot talk and drive at the same time, or do anything else while talking for that matter. So I tend not to talk much. My best multi-tasking is done while I'm relaxing. I can read a book and help Jessamine in the bathroom at the same time, while listening (sort of) to Brad read out new features that have just been added to our online video game (Lineage2) and helping Max find his fireman hat.
So for Aloha Friday this week, are you a successful multi-tasker?

25 Excellent Points:
Define 'successful'! :) I can do things at the same time out of necessity, but they're not always done the way they would be if I could concentrate on just one task at a time... :)
I would definitely call myself a good multi-tasker.
I am a horrible multi tasker, and I'm begining to wonder if there is such a thing at all. I can only have one train of thought at a time, and thus........do only one task at a time...........so NO is my answer.
I am a pretty good multi-tasker. I find I do my best work (sometimes) while watching TV or listening to music. I generally can't concentrate on only one thing, so if I'm just doing one thing, I usually daydream (which is counter-productive) or fall asleep (which is only productive if you think sleep is important).
oh this was wonderful!!! i loved ever moment of it!!!!
Aha! Clearly all traits of a supermomma. You are officially one of us...hey there should be a multi-tasking super momma out or training badge! Happy weekend, Marie!
I would like to think so. *wink*

I have done it...though I hate it! I would rather do one at a time than handle a few together...I would probably melt my fingers if I tried ironing and blogging... thank you, very nicely written.

I often refer to myself as the "Domestic Bartender because I have an uncanny ability to pour two sippy cups, make a bottle, fix up a cup of coffee, mix kool-aid and pour a soda all at the same time and done in under 25 seconds.
Impressed?
I think I do a pretty good job!

I can't sit still for very long. When I am watching TV I have to be reading a book or magazine. When I am cooking, I have to be reading or organizing/cleaning the kitchen. I guess I am successful as I haven't burned anything in the kitchen. :-)
Like Jacki, I have a hard time sitting still and doing only one thing. It's common to find me brushing Olive's hair, reading a story to Jean, watching a tv show, and alternating folding laundry, reading and knitting. Jim says it drives him nuts because he's convinced I can't read or knit while watching a movie...and I totally can :)
No. No I am not. Not good at multitasking, I mean. See, I'm trying to type spontaneously while thinking about whether or not I should include my story about Hell's Multitasking, and I'm in danger of screwing up my original response as a result. So I won't. Tell the story, I mean. Yet.
Okay, thanks for asking. This happens just once in a while, but even that is way too often. Example: my wife and I talk about making arrangements with one of our kids to come over and spend a day or two with us. She gets me to phone Thatcher, because "it's time you two talked".
I phone Thatch and say something decisive like, "We'll pick you up at the Langdale terminal at 2:10". Thatch, being the fully cognizant adult that we hoped he would be, begins to respond. That is my wife's cue: "Tell him not to eat I'll make something is Sally coming too bring a blanket because it's been cold and ours are quite small but you're tall can he pick up some wine red for sure maybe some white maybe he should drive on the ferry ask him if he has ferry passes oh don't bring the dog Rudy will be here ..."
You're tall. That's all I heard. And that's not even single-tasking, because I already knew he was tall. Yeah, thanks for asking.
Yeah, dead good! I can watch tv but if I read the newspaper at the same time it puts me to sleep.
Hahaha! That was just delightful! So glad you joined me again on this prompt.

humm multi tasking sends my heart racing and my mind spinning then I can't figure out what I was supposed to do. Nope not all that good at it although I would love to be.
nice poetry!
i do good under pressure, and i am a crammer ... so most of the time i am multi-tasker!
Multi-tasking? I think I'm getting good at it with a toddler around. I can watch TV and stack blocks. Or sing the ABC song and blog at the same time. Just that at the end of the day, I just don't know whether I still have my brain intact! LOL.
I multi-task a lot, but only because I have a short attention span which causes me to start something and move on to something else before I finish. Eventually I have like 5 things going on at the same time and I wander around...
hold on a sec, I have to start dinner.
It depends. Sometimes when I'm running the house, I can do everything at once, and I'm Zen. Other times it's chaos and I can't concentrate until I run off for a little while.
"Accomplishing naught in good time" is a great line!
I can't type and talk at the same time, but I keep trying to do so. (insert sigh here)
Fun limericks. Very enjoyable read.
Excellent limericks. Definitely gave me a laugh.
Quite the poet or is there a term for someone who writes limericks?
An average multi-tasker. I scare myself if I try to do too many things...
Starbucks.
