Annoying advice is prolific
From people who think they're terrific.
All you can do
Is try not to stew;
Not passing it on is the ticket.
So next time your in-laws get started
And you feel that you're being bombarded,
Don't raise up your bile,
Nod politely and smile;
For someday they will be departed.
I haven't tried my hand at poetry for awhile, which I'm sure many were very grateful for. But how could I resist a limerick challenge? Mad Kane asked for limericks or haikus about bad advice, and I managed to do one both about and containing bad advice. It's a two in one! Sorry, I just can't do haikus.

I like the poem.
Now, I'd better go home.
:)
Very cool! I really enjoyed that!
Awesome poem. Actually the nodding and smiling politely does save a lot of time and trouble- it helps to live a ways away and only have to deal with certain people on certain days of the year...
Is there anything you can't do??
I think that's a fantastic limerick!
This is wonderful! Good advice about the in-laws. I cooked our entire Thanksgiving meal -- for me, my wife and mother-in-law. The only words my mil had to say about it were what she didn't like about it. No joke.
You are HILARIOUS. Would it be inappropriate for me to print that, frame it and show it to my in-laws? Great! I didn't think so either!
You rock.
Leanne- why, are your in-laws there?
Mr. Fab- Why thank you.
Loraine- very true. I guess we all should know, eh? ;)
Jacki- I can't listen to James Blunt.
Summer- thanks!
Dan- that's funny, my husband was a cook for eight years, and I can't get him to do anything in the kitchen.
WorksforMom- do it as a cross-stitch sampler and hang it on the bathroom wall. Facing the toilet.
Love these :)In-laws are great fun over the holidays.Ha ha.
Love it :).
It's like you were in my head!!! Having people who think they know better than my humble self- I especially love the first part.
Yeah, finally found your blog! I like it - and you can write limericks too. - prolific-ticket, started-departed! Love it...

I'll try to remember that at Christmas.
Sian- mine live far, far away. :)
