When attempting to replicate a McDonald's soft serve hot fudge sundae with granulated peanuts-
(secondary note to self: find out why they call them granulated rather than chopped or some other synonym more suitable for IQ of average McDonald's customer, and while you're at it, find out what is so fancy about fancy ketchup.)
- do not, ever again, no matter the temptation, attempt the following procedure:
1. Retrieve ancient carton of vanilla ice cream from bowels of freezer
2. Scrape protective ice crystal covering from ice cream with heated ice cream scooper
3. Transfer remaining bits of vintage ice cream to bowl
4. Melt three bars of leftover Halloween fun-sized Hershey's bars in the microwave
5. Dump products of chocolate microwave experiment over vintage ice cream
6. Attempt to both eat and enjoy.
- Rather, call Brad and instruct him to stop by McDonald's on the way home from work and purchase an actual soft serve hot fudge sundae with actual imitation hot fudge containing delicious and gooey chemical stabilizers, and packet of actual granulated peanuts. If he then presents an argument against the wisdom of spending the last $1.08 we posses, remind him that his precious gnome collection continues to exist only out of love and benevolence.

Love the new look! And the signature, too.
Crap! Now I want one!
BTW, I love the new look to your blog!
icy ice cream just sucks... doesn't it? I always think, this will taste ok. and it never does.
If I were him I think I'd feel lucky to get off with just the $1.08.
I bought a strawberry sundae for my kids at the walmart mc'd's just yesterday(!) and wondered the same thing about the "granulated" peanuts. Wei-rd.
Have to agree -- 1.08 is not bad to satisfy a raving pregnant woman.
Threats always work best :P
I was going to leave a comment, but I kept scrolling down to the pic of the abs frying up something two posts ago. *fan*
Granulated? Unless they have ground the peanuts down to grains, that is false...erm...titlizing.
And, duh, silly, you avoid the archaic, frost covered ice cream by eating the whole container in 1-2 sittings (depending on if you get a pint or a half gallon).
That is one thing Peter learned when I was pregnant....NEVER question when I asked him to buy something. There is this ice cream stand here in town that sells the best chocolate milkshakes. I ate at least one a day.
And I agree....freezer-burned ice cream is horrible.
There's wrong and then there's trying to substitute vanilla ice cream for soft-serve yumminess.
Maybe you could ask for a softserve maker instead? Surely it would pay for itself eventually ;-)
Don't worry, Brad has a keen sense of self preservation. What Mommy wants, Mommy gets. I really only have to threaten the gnome collection when he starts talking about kilts or bagpipes.
In fact, he gave the McDonald's near our house a dressing down the last time I sent him, asking the pimply faced guy behind the counter if he had any idea of the importance of haste in preparing a hot fudge sundae for a pregnant woman???
The kid turned white and said yes he did know, and added extra fudge. I kid you not.
You should have seen me in Florida when I sent him to Steak n' Shake for a cheeseburger with everything on it and a half banana half chocolate milkshake. The cheeseburger they gave him had nothing on it, not even cheese, just "steak" and a bun. And the milkshake did not have the little chocolate chips they normally put in. It was not pretty. I was offered a free meal "next time," but I assured the manager there would never be a next time. And by golly there wasn't.
Now if it had been an In n' Out Burger I would have wept grateful tears for such a generous offer, but then In n' Out has no peer.
There should be an icecream fund set up for you, hon! I'd be willing to donate.
Ooh I love McDonald's soft serve sundaes. Yum!!
Sometimes a girl just needs her ice cream. And that fact should never be questioned!
Did my comment NOT go? Dangit I worked so hard on it...something like Peanut Buster Parfait, need some when I'm pregnant, your ice cream is like mine, etc etc. xo
As does Mat''s extensive Star Wars collection.
Definitely worth the dollar...
Really nice footprint! Pink is nice......
Many people have learned to their utter displeasure during my lifetime that they shalt not come between me and my ice cream! Never.Ever.Or else.
Or you could just skip all the craziness and go straight to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard.
Yum!
That is hilarious and I am so glad I came across your blog!!
I just LOVE your layout.
