Tell me the truth now.

Am I the only one that thinks this picture -which is popping up in OB/Gyn waiting rooms everywhere- is creepy?

I know it's supposed to be about the miracle of life and all that, but to me it looks more sci-fi than anything else. And not in a good way.

(The viral proliferation of this picture has caused the original source to be buried in obscurity. If anyone knows whose creation it is, please let me know so I can give due credit.)

All I could think when I first saw that one was "OW."

I loved your disclaimer!

I think it looks creepy too.

That's gotta hurt.

LOL. Well, I suppose I can understand both reactions: freaked or touched. Although my personal first reaction when I saw this several months ago was a head-cock to the side, a scrunched up face and the word, "COMO?" Because I didn't even know such a thing was possible. I mean, IS IT?

See, things like that make me NOT want to get pregnant. Seriously, I gagged a little. I realize pregnancy isn't a beautiful happy skip through a sunny park or anything, but leave some of the creepiness to our imagination. Seriously, those of us who haven't been pregnant yet don't need to know everything.

That freaks ME out. More in the Good Gawd her uterus has thinned too much and she's going to hemorrhage kind of way.

If anybody doesn't find it creepy, I'd really worry.

Ummm...I dunno if the foot is supposed to be in that particular location to begin with? We have a picture of my sister's belly and afterwards we were looking at it and saw a little bump where his foot was sticking out. But it was just a bump, not the entire foot, and it was located in the upper right-hand side of the belly.

Verdict for this picture: creepy!

Nope, it's not possible. The uterine wall is pretty durn thick, then you have layers of viscera and blood vessels and skin and such. When the mother is pretty far along a professional can identify where the head is via a lot of squeezing, and from there make assumptions about where everything else must be. But even they have been known to confuse heads with bottoms. Sometimes there might be a little bulge, but nothing at all defined. It could be a foot, hand, elbow, knee, anything.

Definitely disturbing. Reminds me of being pregnant with Monkey when I literally felt like he was going to tear open my skin when he would push so hard. It looks so much more painful than precious.

I'm more disturbed by the way her bellybutton looks.....

Always reminds me of Spaceballs where the alien pops out of his stomach and starts dancing. It always weirded me out to see elbows and knees and such moving under the surface - like I had a really large parasite in there.

Can you say "photoshop"? I know it's not real but it still makes me uncomfortable. Funny because I used to love trying to identify what part of the baby was sticking out.

Ick!! That IS awful, and definitely not possible.

First of all, hi --

Second of all, even though that's not possible, it is definitely creepy. I have seen Alien I-IV way to many times to find that to be anywhere near precious.

I think that either the picture was photoshopped (please, please be photoshopped!) or that was some amazing timing of the photographer!

Yeah! I just saw this the first time a couple days ago ~ and it is disturbing! It does feel like that sometimes, but, thank God, it never looks like that!

Dang ~ sorry 'bout that double comment. My 'puter's being oddly slow and annoying this morning and I'm just madly pushing buttons here trying to make it go faster.

I've seen it, but I can't believe it's real. I mean, it's not real...right?

Snopes says it's been around since '04...

I like the idea behind the photo (that it's a real baby inside, not just an extension of the mother), but the picture is a little weird to me. But is that really possible? I can't imagine how much that would hurt to have the baby's foot kick out that far. And they just happened to have a camera handy?

OH, that's me! LOL Just kidding! Great photoshopping job though. I've seen it several times, it's been around for 2 or 3 years now. Or more. Hard to say...

I think you and I are due around the same time. My little kicker is supposed to arrive 9/25 or thereabouts. I always overbake my babies. I like 'em crisp around the edges.

That's freaking creepy. It looks like it's getting ready to rip it's way out of her belly with a toenail and help itself to the linguine.

Dear Lord, now I am glad I'm too old to get pregnant. That picture is way too creepy.
